Thandiwe Shiphrah and Daniel Arite began working together in 1999 on a recording project and they've been captivating audiences with music and poetry ever since. Their concerts are characterized by a playful inventiveness that results from ongoing explorations into the many ways that word and sound can interact. Their latest collaboration, Return to Wonderment, is a performance collage of live jazz and poetry that honors humanity's connection to Earth and highlights ways to deepen our rapport with nature and our commitment to ecological renewal. It features Daniel's original compositions and new arrangements of jazz standards tailored to Thandiwe's rhythmic recitations of poems and popular song lyrics.
